CDRI Enabling The Infrastructure For Disaster Resistance
The Coalition on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) organised a press conference on Thursday to announce the importance of making the infrastructure resilient for the time of disaster and also updated about its status of work towards it. The CDRI also announced the 5th edition of ‘The International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI 2023) that is scheduled for the first week of April.
The conference was addressed by Amit Prothi, Director General Coalition of Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), Kamal Kishore, Member Secretary National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) India, H.E. David Puig, Ambassador Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the Republic of India and Franck Viault, Head of Cooperation Delegation of the European Union to India and Bhutan.
Amit Prothi, Director General, of the Coalition of Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) called the upcoming ICDRI conference as an attempt to find a potential solution for the disaster-resilient infrastructure.
While addressing the event, Prothi mentioned that they launched a 50 billion dollar trust fund in partnership with the Indian government, the European Union (EU), the UK and Australia that help CDRI to implement capacity-building solutions.
On one of the questions asked by BW Businessworld that how they are going to enable health infrastructure for the disasters in India when it has the largest population, Prothi replied that they are in the talk to collaborate with the German government and World Health Organization to empower health infrastructure in order to locate the capacity building and accessibility where it is needed.
CDRI is the collaboration of UN agencies, the national government, multilateral development banks, etc launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on 23 September 2019 at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York.
