CBSE Commits Huge Blunder In Class 12 Marks Totalling

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has committed huge errors in class 12 marks totaling putting the career of students at stake. Two students from Delhi applied for verification and gap of 40 and 114 per cent was observed in re-evaluation of marks. A maximum gap of up to 400 per cent was observed where marks of a student went from 9 to 45 in economics.

The problems continue to rise for CBSE students. It started with CBSE deciding to scrap its moderation policy until the Delhi High court ordered the board to delay the changes until next year.

The board results were declared on 28 May and various reports have now emerged that the board has committed several errors in totaling class 12 marks. This resulted in scores falling quite short of expectations, thus questioning the authenticity of the division of marks.

A recent report in The Times of India stated that Sonali, a Delhi student, panicked when she learned, that she had scored just 68 marks in mathematics in her board examination. Another Delhi student, Samiksha Sharma who wanted admission in Delhi University college was disturbed to know that her score was just 42 in mathematics. Most of the mistakes were observed in the case of Mathematics and Economics.

After applying for rechecking, Sonali’s marks in mathematics went up to 95 from 68, a quite notable difference of 27 marks while Samiksha’s marks went up to 90 from 42, a big difference of 48 marks. Consequentially, the number of candidates applying for rechecking has increased hugely compared to previous years.

CBSE currently allows verification while re-evaluation is possible only after a court order and students applying for marks verification only get the photocopy of their answer sheet.
