Lipstick Under My Burkha has been performing above par since day 1. The film continued its steady run in the second weekend (28-30th July) collecting Rs 4.4 crore, taking its total collection to Rs 15.36 crore.
After a superb week one of Rs 11 crore, Lipstick Under My Burkha was unaffected by the new releases this Friday (28th July). The film brought in Rs 94 lakh on its second Friday in less than 400 screens. Lipstick Under My Burkha witnessed good jump on Saturday (29th July) and Sunday (30th July), by collecting Rs 1.37 crore and Rs 1.45 crore respectively.
The film maintained excellent footfall in the weekdays of week one by maintaining Rs 1 crore plus on all days. An almost similar story was repeated on its second Monday (31st July), where the film raked in over Rs 70 lakhs. The film is expected to perform on the same lines throughout week-2.The numbers are better than last week’s release- Munna Michael and the Hollywood release- Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
The Ankita Srivastava directorial has been applauded by the critics and the audience word of mouth is strong. Despite a very limited release and targeting only a specific set of audience, the film has performed without any dents at the box-office.
Made at a restrained budget of Rs 6.5 crore, the film has brought in profits close to 150 per cent for its makers and the numbers are supposed to go high. Considering good audience turn-out for the film in week-2, Lipstick Under My Burkha is expected to close at a lifetime of over Rs 20 crore.
The film will move to week-3 with very minimal screens because of the release of Jab Harry Met Sejal. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer will be capturing all the major multiplex screens, which have been the strong hold for Lipstick Under My Burkha. Hence, the lifetime collection of the movie will highly depend on this week’s performance.
