Disney’s latest release Jagga Jasoos has been faring on a lower note in the weekdays. After a solid bump in collections on Monday (17 July), Jagga Jasoos remained on the same lines on Tuesday (18 July).
Jagga Jasoos collected around Rs 3.75 crore on Tuesday, taking its overall collections to Rs 41 crore in 5 days. The numbers seem good for the weekdays, but considering the high production budget of Rs 100 crore for Jagga Jasoos, the film is clearly underperforming.
Jagga Jasoos is expected to close week 1 close to Rs 46-47 crore. The high budget affair will have a lot riding on the second-weekend performance. The film must pull off something exceptional at the box-office in the second weekend (21 - 23 July), to come close to the Rs 100 crore mark. Though, looking at the recent footfalls of Jagga Jasoos, even if the movie performs very well in the second weekend and inches closer to the Rs 100 crore mark, it will fail to bring any theatrical profit for its makers.
Jagga Jasoos took a decent start at the box-office by bringing in Rs 8.57 crore on Friday (14 July). The film witnessed good growth on Saturday (15 July) and Sunday (16 July) collecting Rs 11.53 and Rs 13.07 crore respectively. After posting a healthy weekend total of Rs 33.17 crore, the film saw a huge decline in the weekdays.
Jagga Jasoos will face competition from the controversial release Lipstick Under My Burkha, Munna Michael and Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, in the coming weekend. Released in over 1800 screens, Jagga Jasoos is expected to see a reasonable screen cut in the second week.
With three new releases, Jagga Jasoos fighting for its fate, War for the Planet of the Apes and Spider-Man coming strongly into week 2 and week 3 respectively, the box-office fight is all set to heat up in the coming weekend. All said, the coming weekend will be a treat for the movie-goers.
