In a short span of 14 months with HT Digital Streams Ltd. Ghosh has engineered a dramatic transformation of various news products which was reflected in their traffic.
Ghosh was previously managing editor of the business news website ‘Quartz’ and TIME Magazine's World Editor. He was the first non-American to be named World Editor in TIME's more than 80 years. He has previously been the publication’s Baghdad bureau chief, and one of the longest-serving correspondents in Iraq.
He has written stories from other conflict areas, like Palestine and Kashmir. He has also worked for ‘Time Asia’ and ‘Time Europe’ and has covered subjects as varied as technology and football (like his very famous article about Lionel Messi), business and social trends. He started his career as journalist with Deccan Chronicle, a popular English daily, at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. His Baghdad journalism has included profiles of suicide bombers and other terrorists, stories about extraordinary Iraqis and also other political figures.
BW had earlier covered Bobby's journey across continents when he joined HT Media a little over an year ago.
In an email to the employees Shobhana Bharati , Chairperson of HT Media has informed her employees that Bobby will be returning to US for personal reasons.
A copy of the email is as below:
Dear All,
I am deeply disappointed to share the news that Bobby Ghosh will be returning to New York, for personal reasons.
Bobby has only been with HT Digital Streams Ltd. for 14 months, but in that time he has engineered a dramatic transformation of our various news products. This is reflected not only in our traffic numbers, but in the sheer ambition of our journalism. Under his leadership, HT Newsroom has pursued bold ideas and has addressed some of the most pressing issues of our time. We have come to be recognized as the place for journalistic innovation and enterprise.
We will miss him, but I am confident that the newsroom leadership team he has nurtured will more than live up to the challenge.
At my request, Bobby has agreed to stay on for a while, to help in the transition and complete some projects he has already launched.
There will be time for proper farewells. For now, please join me in wishing Bobby the best in his next adventures.
