Sargam Dhawan Bhayana started learning filmmaking in Singapore to become a director in Bollywood but life had other plans. Bhayana started her entrepreneurial journey with Dafni by bringing in 25 hair straightening brushes to India. After a chance meeting and deal with the founders of Dafni, Bhayana invested an initial amount of Rs 1 lakh and started selling it through Instagram and it exploded.
The idea behind setting up an umbrella brand was to introduce revolutionary products. Bhayana launched Tressmart which was a mart for your tresses and a hair-care-focused brand. She further realised that it can be tried in other ranges as well. Tressmart started as a distribution house and imported beauty products from different countries such as the UK, Israel and USA. The brand has two e-commerce platforms as well where one is specifically for hair products and the other, ‘Glow by Tressmart’, is for skincare products.
The Covid-19 pandemic hit and had been extremely challenging as all the salons were closed and courier services were shut which forced me to think on other business plans to survive through,” expresses Sargam Dhawan Bhayana, Founder and CEO, Tressmart Marketing.
Post the pandemic she went on to launch Tressmart.com as a marketplace which offers hair-care and hair-styling products. The major idea was to provide visibility to smaller brands rather than featuring big brands on the platform.
“I realised that there is a growing awareness among people regarding adopting a healthier lifestyle in India. Consumers are now more conscious of what they are consuming and this consciousness got a boost after Covid even more,” mentions Bhayana.
While speaking about the large impact, Bhayana said, “Being a women entrepreneur myself, I want to empower and do my bit towards society. We run a CSR initiative in Dehradun to teach and educate women and it gives me happiness to witness the positive impacts where in one of the instances, a mother is fighting with her husband to send her girl child to school.”
The brand has been receiving a positive response from consumers, as the company delivers across the country, it has been receiving most of the orders from Punjab and Nagaland. The brand’s warehouse is in Dehradun, the company also has an in-house research and development vertical and a greenhouse as well to ensure the cruelty-free, vegan and organic quality of the products.
