Ashwini Vaishnaw has kept the Railways and IT ministries, and got one major portfolio of Information and Broadcasting. Vaishnaw has held the Railway Ministry from July 2021. He succeeded Piyush Goyal, who oversaw the ministry from September 2017 until July 2021.
During Modi's second term in office, Anurag Thakur served as Minister of Industry and Business. Thakur, despite winning in Hamirpur, has been withdrawn from the Modi 3.0.
The Modi government has attempted to transform public transport, with a major focus on developing world-class infrastructure and stations, as well as the introduction of new trains such as Vande Bharat and Bullet trains.
Ahead of the general elections, the Centre said the railway ministry was planning to launch Vande Bharat Sleeper Coach and Vande Bharat Metros. A senior official closely associated with the project said in April that the railways was planning to launch the country's first Vande Metro to transform the intra-city transportation system.
