MEA (Ministry Of external Affairs) on Friday announced a new Twitter series by the MEA called ‘Ask the spokesperson’, where official spokesperson, Raveesh Kumar will take questions posted to him via twitter and respond to the queries immediately in a simpler language.
In the first of its kind digital initiative by the MEA, the idea is to simplify India’s foreign policy for the common man and answer all the doubts in the minds of people.
“I will explain the nuances of Foreign Policy to the common man in a simple Language,” said Raveesh Kumar in his weekly media brief to reporters.
The frequency of the series will be once in two months. And it goes live for the first time today.
Whilst this announcement Kumar also spoke to the reporters about the conflicting reports on the situation in Doklam Pleatue. There were reports about China continuing with the construction and rise in tensions between the two nations.
“The news report only refers to alleged Chinese buildup well within China. I would like to reiterate that there are no new developments at the face-off site since the Aug 28th disengagement. Status Quo still prevails in the area.”
Speaking of the prospects of a Quadrilateral he suggested that India is open to working with like-minded countries on issues that advance interests and promote India’s viewpoint.
“We have an open mind to cooperate with countries with convergence but obviously on an agenda which is relevant to us,” Kumar added.
Being careful on issues concerning China, Kumar said that the PM’s had sent his best wishes and has congratulated Chinese President Xi on his re-election as the General Secretary of Communist Party.
“We hope that the direction and the policy set by the Congress will further promote our bilateral relations and contribute to peace and stability in the region,” Kumar concluded.
