Ambrane Wise Eon Max Review: The Largest Entry-Level Smartwatch
The season of affordable smartwatches is going strong and in this review, I will be giving a detailed account of a solid contender in the under-INR 2,000 segment. The Wise Eon Max is a budget-friendly smartwatch from the house of Ambrane. The smartwatch doubles as a fitness tracker as well, offering a range of features including day-to-day health tracking. The ‘Max’ in the product’s name is suggestive of the fact that the watch has a giant display. After testing the Ambrane Wise Eon Max for a month, here are my thoughts on the smartwatch.
The Wise Eon Max features a sleek and lightweight design, making it comfortable to wear during workouts and throughout the day. The curved rectangular touchscreen display offers clear visibility of various fitness stats, including step count, heart rate and calories burned. The display size is, needless to say, more than adequate, allowing you to read and interact with the information provided easily. However, visibility under direct sunlight is something that can be improved. This is understandable as this is not an AMOLED display.
The 2.01-inch full-touch ‘LucidDisplay’ is honestly huge. However, for some reason, it does not feel huge. offers 550 nits of brightness. The 240x283 resolution is decent and so is the 2.5D glass. The colours are bright and vibrant enough and the operation is smooth, if not the smoothest.
The Ambrane Eon Wise Max offers a range of fitness tracking features to monitor fitness activities and movements accurately. It includes a step counter that tracks your daily steps and distance travelled. Additionally, the watch incorporates a heart rate monitor that continuously measures your heart rate throughout the day, providing cardiovascular health data. The sleep tracker does a decent job of analysing sleeping patterns and offering data on sleep duration and sleep quality. However, do not expect to have the same accuracy that you see in the case of high-end fitness trackers from Apple or Garmin. Occasional discrepancies in measurements will occur.
The Wise Eon Max includes multiple workout modes, such as running, walking and cycling. While it doesn't have a built-in GPS, it can connect to your smartphone's GPS to provide more accurate distance and pace tracking during outdoor activities. This feature is convenient for those who rely on GPS data for accurate workout metrics. However, the lack of built-in GPS means you'll need to have your smartphone with you during outdoor workouts for accurate GPS tracking. Other exercise modes are more of a hit-and-a-miss. Basic ones like walking and running work fine but as you try and explore diverse activities, the results are not what you'd expect. However, given the entry-level tag of the watch, that is understandable.
In addition to fitness tracking, the Ambrane Wise Eon Max offers health monitoring features to inform you about your well-being. It includes a blood pressure monitor and blood oxygen level monitor, allowing you to keep track of these vital signs. Once again, accuracy is a major concern.
The Wise Eon Max provides a decent battery life thanks to its 280 mAH lithium-ion battery. Ambrane claims it to be 10 days, however, the actual number lies between 5-6 days depending on the degree of usage. I used various fitness features including the GPS tracker in the app along with the alarm, Bluetooth calling and 24x7 heart rate monitoring and it lasted for only 5 days.
Ambrane is trying to stand out in the plethora of smartwatches in the Indian market. This upstream battle will only get tougher if the brand does not push the boundaries of its product portfolio. The Wise Eon Max was a good attempt at offering something different. The 550 nits and 2.01-inch screen were a start. However, it did fall short in certain aspects.

It definitely cannot be compared with high-end fitness trackers, but even after that, I felt there was a huge gap in terms of accuracy in the numbers. As long as your ultimate goal is to style a smartwatch with your outfit, have the basics such as the step counter sorted and have something to quantify your fitness journey, the Ambrane Wise Eon Max is a great pick. For hardcore fitness enthusiasts, not so much.
The Bluetooth calling feature is definitely the most effective and appealing function in this smartwatch. The application that works with the watch is great at what it does. The interface, however, could be a lot better. As a fitness tracker, the Wise Eon Max offers a plethora of exercise modes but it’s not going to replace flagship fitness trackers anytime soon.
The watch offers a good balance between functionality and affordability as well. As a budget-friendly smartwatch that is priced at INR 1,399 (on Flipkart), the Ambrane Eon Wise Max is definitely a catch. If you desire size, a smooth and decently bright display, and the standard stack of features that smartwatches are offering these days (fitness suite, steps counter, heart rate monitor and Bluetooth calling) at a ridiculously affordable price tag, this watch is a no-brainer.
