‘Quit By 10 am Or Get Fired’: Tech Mahindra HR Rep Says To Employee
No, it is not a dialogue from Leonardo DiCaprio’s, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’; this is a real life scenario which was faced by an employee of Tech Mahindra. Dramatic enough, these were the words of wisdom given to an employee by the HR Executive of Tech Mahindra.
But things took a U turn when the employee recorded the conversation and uploaded it on the social media. Soon, the company started facing severe backlash on the social media regarding their management.
Coming to the rescue, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman and MD, Mahindra Group said on Twitter, ‘I want to add my personal apology. Our core value is to preserve the dignity of the individual & we'll ensure this does not happen in future’.
C.P. Gurnani, CEO, Tech Mahindra stepped into the matter as well; he tweeted, ‘I deeply regret the way the HR rep & employee discussion was done. We have taken the right steps to ensure it doesn’t repeat in the future’.
Vineet Nayyar, Vice-Chairman, Tech Mahindra, also released a statement condemning the same. "We have become aware of the incident involving a conversation between an employee and a company HR representative. We deeply regret the manner in which the discussion took place and have taken necessary corrective steps to ensure that this does not happen again in future," Nayyar said in the statement.
Cost optimization in the Indian IT Industry has led to an unfavourable working environment in most of the IT Companies, which were known to deliver the best for their employees.
