Xavier institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) is acknowledged internationally as a world-class business school which provides quality management programmes and develops futuristic managers with strong ethics and values. The management of the institute is in the hands of a board of governors, consisting of representatives of the Jesuit Society, government of India, government of Odisha, and eminent industrialists and educationists. Academics
With the creation of the new university in which XIMB became a constituent institute of the university and started offering MBA programmes (The PGDM being re-named as MBA), the Human Resource Programme and Rural Management Programme were brought under two different schools namely, HRM School of Management and RM School of Management. Within the university, the XIMB, Xavier School of HRM and Xavier School of RM are now called as Faculty of Management. Apart from this XIMB also offers Ph.D, MBA in Global Management, Executive MBA one year programme, Two year full-time programme in Sustainable Management, MS (Finance), MBA (Finance) MS (Global Finance) and MA in Mass Communication.
Infrastructure Facilities And Student Life
The existing campus is located on 20 acres of verdant campus on the Nandan Kanan Road at Xavier Square. The entire Wi-Fi enabled campus houses the faculty residences, office complex, library and computer centre, classrooms, auditorium, residences for men, women, and executive programme participants, CENDERET office complex, Management Development Centre (MDC) and studio apartments. In addition, the institute has a floodlit basketball court, tennis courts, badminton court, gymnasium, and playgrounds for cricket and soccer.
Faculty
With over 90 faculty members, including resident as well as visiting faculty from both Indian and foreign universities, XIMB boasts some of the best teaching staff in departments such as Economics, Finance and Accounting, Humanities and Social Sciences, Strategic Management, etc. Most of the faculty have obtained their Ph.Ds. from IIT, IIMs, and other globally respected universities. Besides, large percentage of the faculty also has significant years of industry experience. The advisory board has senior leaders from industry, and the institute also conducts industry-led short courses and hosts leadership talks that keep the students in touch with the important changes in the industry.
Industry Collaborations And Placements
XIMB conducts “Immersion Courses” as part of the mandatory curriculum. These are solely delivered by senior practioners and complement the content of the faculty-led courses. Formal and informal feedback from these is taken seriously. Pre-placement talks are organised to ensure that there is a match between expectations of recruiters and students. At the end of the recruitment process, detailed feedback is taken from corporate recruiters. Every year 100 per cent placement is achieved with good salary packages. This year, the average salary offered was Rs 12.44 lakh. The highest offer was for Rs 20 lakh and the lowest offer was for Rs 8.5 lakh.
