World diabetes day was first observed on 14th November 1991 by the initiative of world health organisation and International diabetes federation. This day was created in response to growing health threat in the world by diabetes.
More than 160 countries in the world campaign for the awareness of diabetes which affect more than 1 billion people. The theme of World Diabetes Day 2017 is Women and Diabetes.
What is Diabetes? When the Pancreas stop making Insulin or body cannot use the Insulin produced by the pancreas it results in the Diabetes. Insulin acts as a catalyst when the human body converts glucose into energy. Insulin helps glucose to be consumed by the cells. There are three types of Diabetes - Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes and GDM (Gestational diabetes).
