You just launched your startup in 2016 in the travel and tourism sector, what brought you to the inception of Travkart?
Being in the travel industry, it has been a family business since five years. I always wanted to have my own travel business. We wanted to explore more opportunities and selling tours is my passion. I think for the travellers everything should become easier and it should be available to them on their fingertips. So, we launched Travkart which is a niche website and application for someone to book a holiday or stay.
So, what do you think is the USP of your business. How do plan to compete in this space?
We have come with our services post enquiry. We have been taking in responses in an offline mode. Travkart started with selling fixed departure group tours, and we give the live inventory confirmations on the system itself. The process has been made so much easier that a customer will get to know about all the inclusions, exclusions without even calling up any agent. We advertise ourselves as an immediate selling point. And the most trending thing in holidays now is activities and tours, so for an experiential holiday we can book something for the customers on the go too, that's a key factor. We are always in touch.
The pie is getting smaller and smaller, how do you plan to expand your market share?
2017 will be a very important year for Travkart, in terms of increasing market penetration. We'll be focusing more on Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. With increase in air connectivity in many cities soon we'll be able to scale our presence from specific northern states to a much more pan-India presence, apart from virtual offices in Southern India. India will be our playground but selling Indian and global destinations will be our objective.
