With the introduction of the Vivo X200 series scheduled for 2024, Vivo has given its enthusiasts a preview of what's to come, including possible improvements to the camera technology. At its image festival in China, the company unveiled the new features, showcasing the enhancements anticipated for the Vivo X200 Pro and its prospective European equivalent. It is believed that this upgrade would provide improvements to the camera systems, including the Vivo X100 Ultra's technology.
The X100 series' replacement may not yet have an official name from Vivo, but early Weibo teases point to some big changes. There are rumours that the Sony IMX989 found in the X100 Pro and the Lytia 900 found in the X100 Ultra will be replaced by a new sensor technology in the Vivo X200 Pro. According to reports, the 200 MP ISOCELL HP9 sensor, which is now found in the telephoto lens of the X100 Ultra, may be included in the X200 Pro. It is that the primary camera will switch from a 1-inch sensor to a slightly smaller sensor, around 1/1.3 inches.
The teaser also makes reference to a self-developed Vivo sensor that uses a 22nm technology and may provide True-TCG HDR, which is an enhanced HDR feature. It is anticipated that this technique would improve HDR video recordings as well as photo previews. Vivo has also made reference to a recent internal project known as VCS 3.0, yet specifics regarding these technologies are currently unknown. It is anticipated that large AI models possibly with one billion parameters or more will help with AI-supported picture optimisation, improving aspects like night shot realism, scene brightness and portrait shots.
The Humanistic Camera Mode from the Vivo X100 Ultra will be made available to current Vivo users on previous devices, such as the X100 Pro and X90 Pro. The X100 Pro is anticipated to get this mode towards the end of August, the X100 in early September, and the several X90 variants in late October or early November. It's yet unclear if these upgrades will be accessible for Funtouch OS worldwide editions.
There have been rumours that the new sensor in the Vivo X200 series might be a 200MP Samsung S5KHP sensor with an f/1.67 aperture and 21 mm equivalent focal length. There are rumours, though, that a Sony sensor may be utilised in its place. The true specs and features will only be known until Vivo makes public announcements, as this data are based on leaks and unverified claims.
