President-elect Donald Trump has named entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, along with billionaire CEO Elon Musk, to lead a newly established Department of Government Efficiency.
This initiative aligns with Trump’s campaign pledge to tighten oversight on government spending and improve operational efficiency within federal agencies.
Trump lauded Ramaswamy, calling him an “American Patriot” and “smart as hell.” Ramaswamy, 39, will assume a prominent role in the new administration, which officially begins on January 20.
The Ohio-born leader, known for his biotech ventures and conservative platform, is expected to work closely with Musk, who will contribute his expertise in streamlining operations and driving innovation.
Ramaswamy and Musk will lead efforts aimed at executing large-scale structural reforms across government agencies, targeting wasteful expenditures and promoting transparency. The two appointees have publicly expressed their commitment to the initiative, with Ramaswamy tagging Musk in an X (formerly Twitter) post, stating, “We will not go gently.”
This appointment adds Ramaswamy, a Yale Law graduate and multimillionaire entrepreneur, to the roster of key figures in Trump’s second-term administration, cementing his influence in shaping the future of government efficiency and public service reform.
