The US-India Business Council (USIBC) of the United States Chamber of Commerce held its inaugural meeting of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force on Thursday. The task force, co-chaired by Meta, focused on fostering collaboration across various sectors in light of the increasing importance of AI technology.
In a statement, USIBC declared that its AI Board Advisory Committee has been reinforced with the inclusion of Infosys, UPS and BNY Mellon. This strategic expansion is intended to enhance USIBC's endeavours in fostering collaboration and innovation within the dynamic realm of AI, leveraging exceptional business expertise from both America and India.
Inderpreet Sawhney, the Group General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Infosys, stressed the importance of responsible AI implementation during the Advisory Committee meeting. Sawhney said the focus on AI at Infosys and underlined the significance of sharing experiences related to the techno-legal aspects of AI.
The collaboration between India and the US, leveraging their talent pool and data resources, holds great potential for unlocking value in this field, he added.
Ambassador Atul Keshap, President of USIBC, said that the committee members' leadership and expertise will be instrumental in guiding the organisation's strategic direction on AI. This will help in effectively addressing the challenges and opportunities in key sectors like business, biotechnology, healthcare, logistics and technology.
USIBC stated that the primary objective of the AI task force is to synchronize and propel the leadership of both the United States and India in the AI ecosystem. It aims to advocate shared AI concepts and principles in national and multi-stakeholder procedures, while also guaranteeing the competitiveness of their respective industries in the development, utilisation and commercialisation of AI technologies. This will ultimately benefit the democratic citizens of each country.
The meeting assembled prominent figures from various advanced technology sectors such as logistics, semiconductor design and manufacturing, commercial electronics, biotechnology, telecommunications, space, defense, information technology, and financial services.
The USIBC said the forum was for examining collaboration and alignment in crucial areas essential for worldwide development, economic competitiveness and national security.
