The Uttar Pradesh government, in collaboration with the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) and the World Bank, conducted discussions on Friday to advance the Rs 3,903 crore Uttar Pradesh Agricultural Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening (UP AGREE) project.
This initiative, set for a six-year timeline, seeks to drive growth in the state’s agriculture sector and uplift rural enterprises.
The meeting, held in New Delhi, saw Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh represent the Uttar Pradesh government. In his remarks, Singh emphasised that UP AGREE aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious target of reaching a trillion-dollar economy by 2030.
He noted that the project would focus on increasing productivity, connecting smallholder farmers to high-value commodity clusters, and strengthening fisheries, particularly in the eastern and Bundelkhand regions.
“By investing in high-value crop clusters and establishing a resilient fisheries ecosystem, UP AGREE will be transformative for the state’s agrarian landscape,” said Singh.
The project will also introduce a digital agriculture platform, designed to provide farmers with real-time insights. This platform aims to optimise resources, increase resilience, and ultimately boost productivity, benefiting countless farmers across the state.
