Aimed at the development of tourism in the state, the Tripura government has undertaken a multi-prolonged plan as the state sees the tourism industry as one of the key sectors driving economy growth. The Chief Minister of the state Manik Saha stated that the tourism department of the state has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of ropeways.
Addressing the World Tourism Day 2024 programme and felicitation of the unsung heroes of the recent floods in Tripura at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan, the Chief Minister state that the MoU has been signed between the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation and National Highways Logistics Management.
The signing of the MoU is aimed at constructing ropeways to connect Udaipur railway station to Matabari, Maharani to Chabimura, Surmachara and Jampui Hills. The investment to construct these projects amounts to Rs 692 crore.
The CM stated that the natural environment of Tripura is one of the state’s tourism assets. Saha noted that the efforts were underway to beautify Matabari in Udaipur and Narkelkunja and Dumbur have already been made attractive to tourists.
Shedding light on the various central schemes that are helping the development of the state’s tourist infrastructure, the Chief Minister stated that 41 modern log huts have been constructed and commissioned at various tourist centres across Tripura.
As per the CM, the infrastructure development at various tourist centres in the state such as Agartala, Melaghar, Udaipur, Amarpur, Dumbur among others has been completed through the Swadesh Darshan 1.0 project.
In order to further develop the tourism infrastructure of the state, the projects concerning the development of infrastructure in Chabimura, the Chaturdash Devata Temple and Kasba Kali Temple area are underway through the Asian Development Bank (ADB), as per the CM.
