Toyota Reports Massive Data Leak

Toyota Motor Corporation on Friday said it discovered that close to three lakh e-mail addresses and customer numbers from its T-Connect service had been leaked. 

The car-maker said that 2,96,019 pieces of information were leaked including e-mail addresses and customer numbers of those using T-Connect, which is the company’s telematics service that connects vehicles via a network.

Toyota says that the leak affects users of the service who signed up and have been using it through their e-mail addresses since July 2017.

The company said in its statement that there was no possibility of leakage of users’ sensitive personal information like names, phone numbers or credit card information.
