Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced the prices of its most awaited sedan – Toyota Yaris and has officially commenced bookings for the car in India.
Customers can make their bookings at any of the authorised Toyota dealerships across the country for Rs 50,000 with deliveries beginning from May 2018. The Toyota Yaris comes at an introductory price in the range of Rs 875,000 to Rs 14, 07,000 (all prices ex-showroom India).
Marking Toyota’s entry into the mid-size sedan segment, Yaris sports 1.5L 4-cylinder in-line, 16-valve DOHC, dual VVT-i gasoline engine that churns out 78kW of power output at 6000rpm, and 140Nm of torque at 4200rpm. It is mated to a multi-drive 7 speed CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) or 6 speed MT (Manual Transmission) options. The CVT option will be made available across all trims.

First unveiled for the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2018, Toyota Yaris will primarily face competition from Honda City.

2018 Toyota Yaris
Toyota Yaris sedan is available in eight different exterior colour options – Super White, White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Red Mica Metallic, Quartz Brown Metallic, and Dark Blue Mica Metallic.
The five seater sedan measures 4425mm X 1730mm X 1475mm, with a fuel tank capacity of 42 litres.
The sedan will have several first in segment features like – 7 SRS airbags including driver + passenger, side, curtain shield and knee; Tyre pressure monitoring system; Front and rear parking sensors; Roof mounted air-vents with ambient illumination for rear passengers; Power driver seat; Flat floor; High Solar Energy Absorbing (HSEA), IR cut, acoustic & vibration control glass for windshield & doors for quieter cabin; and All 4- wheel disc brakes.
For safety, Toyota Yaris will have Vehicle stability control, Traction control, Hill-start assist control, Anti-lock braking system with Electronic brake distribution, and Reverse camera.
Its class leading technology includes Optitron meter with TFT MID, FR and RR clearance sonar display in MID, Cruise control + paddle shift for CVT, and Rain sensing wipers.
Some other features of the car are – Rear sunshade, Waterfall design center cluster, Wide lower grill, Rear fog lamps, LED line guide in headlamp & tail lamps, piano black interiors, and Auto headlamps.
For comfort of the passengers, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is providing adjustable rear centre headrest, 60:40 split rear seats, smart entry with push start, and hand /air gesture controlled infotainment system with touch screen navigation.
Honda City
City comes in both petrol and diesel engines options. The petrol variants are priced between Rs 871,520 – Rs 13, 74,532 and the diesel trims come within a price range of Rs 10,99,390 – Rs 13,82,382 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Honda City’s 1497cc water cooled 4 stroke SOHC i-VTEC inline 4 cylinder gasoline engine produces 87.7kW (119PS) @ 6600rpm and 145Nm @ 4600rpm. While the 1498cc water cooled 4 cylinder DOHC i-DTEC inline 4 cylinder diesel engine churns out 73kW (100PS) @ 3600rpm and 200Nm @ 1750rpm.
While the petrol engine is available in both 6-speed manual and CVT transmissions, the diesel trims are offered in only 7-speed manual transmission.
For safety perspective, Honda City comes equipped with six airbags, standard ABS with EBD, driver side pinch guard and auto down function, frameless auto dimming IRVM, multi-view rear parking camera, and immobilizer with anti-theft alarm.
The five seater is offered in five different exterior color paint options – Carnelian red pearl, White orchid pearl, Modern steel metallic, Golden brown metallic, and Alabaster silver metallic.
