Tecnia Institute of Advance Studies on Thursday (23 March) organised its 28th National Conference on Cultural Representation And Power of Media.
The event witnessed by Prof. Dr Shyam Kashyap, Senior Journalist & Ex-deputy Director - DHMI North Campus, Delhi University, Dr Shiva Sarkar, Professor, Indian Institute of Mass Communication - Delhi, NB Nair, Executive Editor, Indian Science Journal, Prof. Dr Anoop Beniwal, Dean USMC GGSIP University and Dr Abhishek Singh the convener of the conference.
Ram Kailash Gupta, Chairman Tecnia Group of Institutions, said: "Media - whether a new or traditional - is often responsible for shaping the way people think about other cultures and societies".
Dr Shiva Sarkar, Professor, Indian Institute of Mass Communication - Delhi, said: Media Globalisation is a real force behind the formation of the new cultural pattern in the society. It motivates people to interact with people from the different community of different culture.
He further added, "New media promote a new culture in human society, in which the degree of ambiguity and uncertainty has been reshuffled and has reached its highest point, especially in the process of intercultural communication
Dr Anoop Beniwal, Dean University School of Mass Communication - Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, said, "Mass media are significant transmitters of cultural messages and play an influential role in shaping culture, yet the process is complex. There is great variety in what messages are accepted by different consumers, how they are interpreted, and how they ultimately are employed (or not). Further, cultures that include contradictory messages are more likely to inadvertently promote deviant paths to culturally valued goals.
First, second and third Plenary session were chaired by Dr Suresh Chandra Nayak, Associate Professor Manav Rachna University and Dr Manoj Singh, Associate Professor Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies.
Professor M. N. Jha, MR System, TIAS, concluded all sessions and thanks to supporting by management, TIAS faculty, research scholars, students and non-teaching staff.
