Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has further cemented its position in the UK market by expanding its partnership with international fashion retailer Primark. This deal will see TCS spearhead the transformation of Primark’s technology operations over the next five years, supporting the retailer’s ambitious global growth strategy.
Under the leadership of CEO K Krithivasan, TCS has recently secured multiple billion-dollar contracts in the UK, which contributes around 17 per cent of the company’s overall revenue. The latest agreement with Primark marks a continuation of a successful collaboration that began in 2016, during which TCS has played a crucial role in enhancing the retailer's core platforms, integrating business-critical programmes and strengthening cybersecurity capabilities.
In a statement, Shekar Krishnan, vice-president and head of retail–UK and Europe, TCS, said, “The fashion industry is continually modernising its entire value chain — from conceptualisation to design to production and retailing... We’re thrilled to support Primark’s mission to offer affordable fashion for everyone and its global vision for growth.”
As part of the new deal, TCS will focus on reducing Primark’s time-to-market by implementing an agile, product-based operating model. The IT giant plans to utilise intelligent automation and DevOps technologies to optimise application development, testing, and maintenance processes. This transformation is aimed at making Primark more adaptable to the fast-paced fashion industry, allowing the retailer to quickly respond to evolving market trends and customer preferences.
“We’re expanding our partnership with TCS to build a robust, resilient and reliable IT operating environment to become a more efficient, technology-led global organisation with the agility to quickly adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced industry. Working with TCS will provide us with the ongoing operational stability and accountability needed to support our business to scale. This will allow us to respond to market trends and customer preferences in a timely manner,” said Andrew Brothers, chief information officer, Primark.
