Tata Electronics, one of the significant assemblers of the iPhone in India, is now gearing up to develop sophisticated and complex high-precision machines to produce the casing of the iPhones, according to a media report on Friday.
Until recently, Tata Electronics was importing the machines from China. However, as it plans to produce the machines, the company is now looking to develop the necessary capabilities for which it has partnered with two Indian manufacturers.
According to the reports, the machine will support the production line of contract manufacturers working for global players like Apple. The move will boost the government’s USD 300 billion electronics export by 2025.
Tata has not yet officially confirmed this endeavour, but reports underline that the company is already testing the complex machines in a staged manner at their Hosur facility.
Tata Group has around 40 lines at their Hosur facility.
