The Supreme Court on Monday lifted its stay on the admission counselling across all IITs, NITs and other government funded engineering institutions, ordering it to resume the process from Tuesday (11th July 2017) for the third round of counseling.
The decision came three days after the court had put on hold the admission process in the IITs on the basis of IIT-JEE advanced result 2017. The apex court had put a stay on the admission process in all the IITs and NITs due to the grant of grace marks allotted to all the students for printing error in the question paper.
Justice Dipak Misra has asked the centre to bring out a process to avoid printing errors in exam papers seeking an undertaking from the IITs that such mistakes would not recur; so as to avoid these controversies in future. The IITs also assured to avoid any such mistakes in the future. IITs welcomed the development as it cleared the confusion.
