SuperGaming, an Indian game development firm, has unveiled the 'Clutch India Movement,' a year-long esports strategy centred on their recently released battle royale game, Indus. The effort kicks off with the Indus International Tournament, which has a prize pool of Rs 2.5 crore. The tournament will run from October 2024 to February 2025 and will feature a series of competitive phases involving teams from India and beyond.
The event will be organised into four unique phases, each targeting a different level of players. The tournament begins with the 'Homegrown' phase, which runs from 6 November to 3 December, 2024, and features a prize pool of Rs 15 lakh. Following that, the 'Nationals' phase will take place, with competitors competing for a prize pool of Rs 10 lakh.
For professional esports teams, the 'Powerplay' phase will take place, with a prize pool of Rs 25 lakh. The competition will also include an 'International' phase from 15 November to 30 December, 2024, in which top worldwide teams will compete. The Grand Finale will feature the final 15 teams battling for the top prize of Rs 2 crore.
According to Roby John, CEO and Co-founder of SuperGaming, this competition matches with the company's mission of establishing India in the global esports arena, showing the ability of Indian esports players to compete on a global scale.
The competition is open to both seasoned professionals and up-and-coming players. The tournament's top performer, or Most Valuable Player (MVP), will get a Mahindra Thar. SuperGaming has also confirmed preparations for another large-scale esports tournament, the Indus International Mahasangram, which will take place in October 2025.

As per reports, in 2024, the revenue in the Esports market is forecasted to reach USD 124.8 million. This market is expected to experience a steady annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2029) of 6.92 per cent, resulting in a projected market volume of USD 174.4 million by 2029. Among the various segments, Esports Betting emerges as the largest market with a volume of USD 90.8 million in 2024. Forecasts predicted that in 2025, the revenue would peak to 11 billion Indian rupees, with a viewership of 85 million viewers across 20 different eSports streaming platforms.
The user penetration rate is anticipated to be 8.6 per cent, which is projected to increase to 9.8 per cent by 2029. Furthermore, the average revenue per user (ARPU) is expected to be USD 1.01. These figures depict the substantial growth and potential within the Esports market, including its significance in the country of India. The Indian Esports market is experiencing exponential growth, with a surge in popularity among the younger generation.
