If the beer isn't enough for you, The Beer Cafe, a chain of beer lounges in Delhi, has hit upon an unusual way of keeping you hooked. Your next best love -- gadgets. It's meant to make the beer-drinking experience even better.
Rahul Singh, Founder and CEO of The Beer Cafe, obviously seems to have a love of both beer and gear and decided to combine the two in an initiative he calls the 'Beerosphere'. He says the idea came from the dilemma of what to gift men. With the belief that there's one too many unworn shirts and unused colognes in every man's closet. But gadgets and beer is probably something one can't have too much of.
Customers can experience the gadgets at the cafes and buy them as well. Beerosphere has about 30 products. "The range is not a mere reflection of our brand, but an experience and an expression that denotes our undying love for beer," says Singh.
The beer gadgets are an extension of The Beer Café that customers can take home, to work, gift or collect as souvenirs. The range includes quirky and unusual, handy and utilitarian gear from home décor, glassware to gaming.
Since beer enthusiasts will swear by the refreshing relief a swig of their drink gives, it's obvious that the experience greatly depends on the temperature of beer when consumed. To address this, the US patented Spin Chill gadget will chill your beer in a minute by simply adding convection, which drastically increases heat transfer between the hot liquid and cold ice. Fix your bottled beverage on the Spin Chill and place it in an ice bucket. Just switch it on and the plate begins to rotate, cooling the bottle.
If you leave a carbonated beverage out for too long it may lose its froth. That's where the Sonic Foamer (also patented) comes in handy: switch it on, place your drink on the plate and you can see the bubbles rise. The drink gets its froth back. The Sonic Foamer uses ultrasonic vibrations to create the perfect head. It's meant to ensure consistent taste and aroma throughout.
Chill Puck, on the other hand, is like a cooling coaster designed to keep the beer colder for longer. It is a plastic ice pack molded to match the bottom of all standard cans. This mold maximises the amount of surface area connecting the freezing cold ice pack and the can, actually chilling your beverage while you drink.
The USB Can Cooler is actually a tiny refrigerator, plug it into a laptop with a USB cable, switch it on and the tray in the fridge begins to cool. If you have the ease of a plug point or laptop with you while you drink, you can chill your can in the Mini USB Fridge.
Another gadget, the Beer SeaLED converts the empty pint into a beautiful ambient lighting option. If you're a beer addict, there's also a Beer Cap Collector Wall Art -- a pint shaped fixture that collects upto 45 crowns that will liven up your wall.
The Beer Cafe says its customer response has been great in just over 3 months since introduction. This has caused the company to make the gadgets and gear available for purchase beyond its 35 outlets at www.beerosphere.com and online sites like Flipkart and even through their app. Currently, the Beer Cafe gets 8-10 orders a day.
With their Beershphere initiative, The Beer Cafe expects to notch up to Rs 2.5 crore in revenue. In the next five years, their goal is a revenue of INR 150 crore from this new line.
