Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured citizens of the government’s attentiveness to public concerns after responding to a request for middle-class tax relief on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
Acknowledging the user’s appeal, Sitharaman emphasised the responsiveness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration. "PM @narendramodi's government is a responsive government. Listens and attends to people's voices. Thanks once again for your understanding. Your input is valuable," she replied.
The user had earlier posted a heartfelt plea: "I humbly request you to consider providing some relief for the middle class. I understand the immense challenges involved, but it's just a heartfelt request."
The exchange underscores the government’s commitment to engaging with citizens and addressing their concerns, particularly amid ongoing discussions around tax reforms and economic relief for various income groups.
The Finance Ministry has previously highlighted measures aimed at supporting the middle class, such as tax rebates and changes to the tax slab structure. However, growing inflation and financial burdens have kept the topic of additional relief at the forefront of public discourse.
Sitharaman's response has sparked conversations on social media, with many expressing hope for tangible policy changes in the upcoming budget.
