'Sisterhood Is The Key For Women Empowerment'

Harbeen Arora is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, spiritualist and an author. She is also the founder and global chairperson of ALL Ladies League (ALL) and the Women Economic Forum (WEF).

WEF is a global conference to foster empowering conversations and connections among women committed to bringing out the constructive change in all walks of life.

The main theme for WEF 2017 was 'Creating, Innovating, Understanding and Driving the Future'. The agenda encompasses a broad scope of 36 vertical themes, combined with five verticals on B2B, corporate presentations, country presentations, workshops, master classes and start-ups/entrepreneurship shared through 498 sessions.

Arora shares her vision and future plans during a chat with BW Businessworld.

What are the virtues that WEF holds on?
Inclusion, Inspiration, Innovation.

We have seen you tirelessly talking to speakers and delegates. What is the secret of this energy?
'Love' is my secret of energy; the whole universe revolves around it. It fills the life with a sweetness that is indispensable.

What is your source of inspiration?
My family, my husband are my biggest inspirations. As they say, behind every successful woman, there is a husband supporting her. I have derived my virtues from Vinay, he cares for people more than they care for themselves. He is selflessly driven to help people.

What do you have to say about women empowerment?
Women empowerment lies in the feeling of togetherness. No woman is alone in this world and there is no issue that cannot be tackled by us. Sisterhood is key to excel in every aspect of life.

It is not an agenda against men, it's a fight against the society's mindset, irrational practices and ill customs that stop women from leading their life on their own terms and the same can't be achieved without the involvement of men.

Any tips for young entrepreneurs?
Look out for each other, help each other. Never make it 'woman versus woman'. Use one candle to light another, it's not going to dull the spark but make the world brighter.

What are your future plans for WEF?
After the success of the annual event in New Delhi, we are planning to have an event every month around the globe. We are heading to the Maldives for the next session. We will be adding more countries and more topics to our kitty.

What is the theme for the next WEF annual chapter?
Economics for goodness: Empowering potential, Empowering change. The event will be conducted from 30 April to 5 May 2018 in New Delhi.
