Samsung R&D Institute, IIT Kanpur Sign MoU For Joint Research
Samsung R&D Institute, Noida (SRI-Noida) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) on Monday. This collaboration of five years for joint industry research will make students ready for their industrial stint in the future.
Apart from research projects, the MoU seeks to provide opportunities for upskilling Samsung engineers in key technology areas such as AI, Cloud and other emerging technologies.
This partnership will allow IIT Kanpur students, faculty and Samsung engineers to work on research projects that will span areas such as health, visual, framework and B2B security.
Additionally, the effort will also include cutting-edge technology areas such as generative AI and Cloud.
The MoU was signed by Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director and SRI-Noida, Professor Tarun Gupta, Dean, Research and Development, IIT Kanpur.
The other professors present during the agreement were namely S Ganesh, Director, IIT Kanpur; Sandeep Verma, Department of Chemistry, IIT Kanpur; Tushar Sandhan and Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur. Some senior delegates from Samsung also witnessed the event.

Samsung emphasised that as part of the joint research projects, students and faculty of IIT Kanpur will work on real-world industry challenges, aligning themselves with actual market needs. They will also work on Digital India-related solutions, along with our engineers.
Furthermore, the company highlighted that under the upskilling opportunities for Samsung engineers, IIT Kanpur will conduct specialised training programmes in various domains, providing them with access to the institute’s renowned expertise, culminating in degree programmes, certifications and specialised courses tailored to enhance the skill and knowledge of itsengineers.
