Royal Enfield Unveils Interceptor, Continental GT Bikes Powered By 648cc Twin Cylinder At EICMA 2017
With an aim to expand and lead the global mid-size motorcycle segment (250-750cc), Royal Enfield on Tuesday (7 November) unveiled its 2018 Interceptor and Continental GT bikes at the Milan Motorcycle Show - EICMA 2017.
The two Royal Enfield classic motorcycles - the Interceptor and the Continental GT have been introduced in a brand new avatar and they are powered by the company’s newly launched 648cc twin cylinder engine.
The highly anticipated first modern Royal Enfield 650 twin and the new range of motorcycles has been developed between the teams at UK Technology Centre and Chennai, India.
In order to gain strong foothold, in the said motorcycle segment, Royal Enfield has been investing extensively towards increasing capacities, infrastructure and product, and as well as people capabilities.
Royal Enfield Interceptor 2018
It is powered by 4 stroke, single overhead cam, air-oil cooled, 648 cc parallel twin, and is a trove of 60s design staples with its 7" headlight, twin clock front and quilted twin seat. The bike will give out 47bhp of power at 7,100rpm, and 52Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.
The Interceptor 2018 measures 2,122mm X 1,165mm X 789mm, with 174mm of ground clearance. It will be available in three colours - Orange Crush, Ravishing Red, and Silver Spectre.
Royal Enfield Continental GT 2018
The new Continental GT 650 Twin is an evolution of the Continental GT 535, which in turn, was an evolution of the Continental GT 250 – the original Royal Enfield British café racer.
It is also going to be available in three colours - Ice Queen, Sea Nymph, and Black Magic.
Dimensions and engine specifications wise, Royal Enfield’s Continental GT 2018 matches with that of Interceptor 2018.
