The need for data availability is increasing in our lives. Better phones with faster processing, newer features are now available with each passing week if not months. Alas on the storage front they still remain between 16 GB to 64GB for even top of the line products. The storage needs are skyrocketing with better cameras fitted in the smartphones.
Consider this one, one of the bestselling phones, LeEco’s latest offering Le Max 2 has 4k recording with means a 5 minute video would take around 1.5 GB of storage or for that matter in a 16GB phone you’ll be able to record 40 minutes of 4K video — and that doesn’t include whatever other space is taken up by the phone. For a photography enthusiast it's just a matter of weeks when his 64 GB storage fills up.
I like to watch videos in full high definition and don't like to compromise on the photography front either. Plus I have multiple devices that I want the data to be available on. Call it perfect timing Sandisk Connect Wireless Stick came in the market at just the perfect time. Here is a review of the same.
Sandisk Connect Wireless Stick
Storage space
At 200 GB storage that's more than enough storage that anyone can need on the run. That's an absolute plus for this product.
Cross platform compatibility
It works on Android, Windows and Mac. Download their app and you are set to go.
Multiple share
3 simultaneous users can share data at the same time
Connection
It connects wirelessly or you can simply plug it into a USB port. I do wish there was alternative wireless connectivity. Sandisk please take note.
Transfer speed
It takes around 4 minutes to transfer 1 GB of data wirelessly. This needs improvement. However it must be mentioned it streams the videos without any buffering.
Managing Content
Sandisk Connect app makes it easy to free up space on the phone and move content, besides wirelessly accessing your content even if there is no internet. Other features include automatically backing up your camera roll when connected.
Battery
Battery lasts approx 4 hours of continuous use. This is another feature that can be improved. Especially for someone using it continuously on the go a longer lasting battery would do better. Also a matter of concern could be when multiple users are streaming continuously the battery would last even lesser time. Charging is superfast. It also shuts on its own on full charge.
Price
Priced at MRP Rs.9,990 for 200 GB but it is available for around Rs.8,600 on Amazon and Snapdeal.
The Last Word
Sandisk Connect Wireless Stick is a great product in the right direction. Overall it’s a good buy especially for someone who needs a decent portable storage on the go. From streaming to storage it solves the purpose with ease. I do wish Sandisk devotes care and attention to this segment of wireless flash drives instead of just launching and forgetting. With storage needs mounting there is a definite need for such devices.
