PM Narendra Modi on Friday initiated two extra rail route lines interfacing Thane and Diva in Maharashtra. The inauguration was done virtually which was held at 4:30 pm. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw with Maharashtra CM Udhhav Thackeray was also present in the meet.
PM additionally flaged off two rural trains of the Mumbai Suburban Railway.
As per Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Kalyan is the primary intersection of the Central Railway. The traffic coming from North side and Southern side of the nation converge at Kalyan and moves towards CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus).
Out of the four tracks among Kalyan and CSTM, two tracks were utilised for slow nearby trains and two tracks for quick neighborhood, Mail Express and Goods trains. To isolate rural and significant distance trains, two extra tracks were arranged.
PM Modi while addressing the virtual inauguration said that connecting Thane and Diva with new railway lines is an asset to Indian Railways. Now local and express trains will have different routes without any incovenience. Apart from that, Western Dedicated Freight Corridor wil give new strength to Mumbai.
"It is the responsibility of our Government is to make Indian Railways safe, convenient and modern", said PM Modi. He added further that with the new budget, Railways have developed making logistic sector strong. More than 8000 railway electrification has been fulfilled while upto 4500 kms of new railway lines have been made till now. Now more than 6000 railway stations are facilitated with wi-fi connectivity. With PM Gatishakti National plan the govt has also planned to start new 400 Vande Bharat trains that will serve India in future.
The two extra rail line lines interfacing Thane and Diva have been worked at the approx cost of Rs. 620 crore and elements 1.4 km long rail flyover, three significant scaffolds and 21 minor extensions. These lines will essentially eliminate the impedance of significant distance train's traffic with rural train's traffic in Mumbai. These lines will likewise empower the presentation of 36 new rural trains in the city.
Railway Minister Vaishnaw said during India's budget in years between 2009-14, Maharashtra was alloted Rs. 1114 crore for its Railways, while in 2014-19, the amount was increased 4× at Rs. 4101 crore and in year 2020-21 Rs. 11,903 crore has been invested for the railway facilities.
