The Haryana government has appointed Rajesh Khullar as the Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini.
According to the order issued by state Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad, Khullar’s appointment will last until the end of the Chief Minister's term or until further notice, whichever comes first. The details of his terms and conditions will be provided separately. Notably, the order does not mention the rank and status of a cabinet minister, as was included in a previous directive.
This follows a surprising move by the state government on Friday night, when it temporarily put on hold an earlier order that had appointed Khullar to the same position, with the rank and status of a cabinet minister.
Rajesh Khullar, a 1988-batch IAS officer, retired on August 31, 2023, after serving 35 years in the civil services. The day after his retirement, he was appointed the Chief Principal Secretary to the then Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar.
