PwC has signed an agreement with OpenAI which will make it the largest customer and first reseller of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise, as the demand for generative artificial intelligence intensifies across the business world.
The accounting giant will deploy the advanced AI technology to 75,000 US employees and 26,000 UK employees. Although financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, PwC said that it has been actively engaging with generative AI across more than 95 per cent of its UK and US consulting client accounts, in addition to numerous audit clients.
The firm has been developing custom GPT models to assist employees in tasks such as reviewing tax returns and generating dashboards and reports, showcasing the practical applications of AI in professional services.
This agreement builds on PwC’s previous announcement to invest USD 1 billion in generative AI technology.
OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, has been seeking to expand its enterprise customer base, and this partnership with PwC represents a significant milestone in those efforts. The deal not only enhances PwC’s internal capabilities but also positions the firm as a key player in promoting and reselling AI solutions to other enterprises.
