Revalyu Resources, a PET plastic recycling company, has invested USD 100 million to expand its production capacity at its Nashik site, making it the world’s largest this kind of recycling facility, the company said in a statement.
The recent commissioning of the second plant increased the company’s capacity to recycle over 20 million used PET bottles a day into 160 tonnes per day of high-quality PET chips and PET polymer which can be used by diverse sectors such as PET bottles, packaging materials, textiles, automobile accessories and a wide variety of other PET copolymer-based products.
Additionally, the under-construction plant will scale up the capacity by 120 tonnes per day which is expected to increase the site’s total recycling capacity to approximately 35 million post-consumer plastic bottles a day and total production capacity to 280 tonnes per day.
Vivek Tandon, founder of Revalyu Group, said, "As we have a commercially viable, scalable, and environmentally sustainable technology to transform used PET plastic into high-quality recycled PET polymer, we look forward to new global partners to innovate and deliver sustainable (r)polymer solutions for future generations.”
Whereas, Managing Director Jan van Kisfeld highlighted that the new facility shows the commercial viability of this recycling technology on a global scale and a dramatically reduced environmental footprint. Our 100 per cent post-consumer recycled PET can seamlessly replace conventional PET, helping our clients achieve their sustainability objectives, Kisfeld added.
Revalyu Resources also plans to establish a 240 tpd recycling facility in the United States by 2027 and aims to scale production to over 1,000 tpd globally by 2030 through strategic partnerships.
CEO Makarand Kulkarni believes that the Nashik site will help expand its operations in India and outside strengthening PET recycling worldwide.
