Oppo launched its second smartphone under its new camera centric range today at a launch event in New Delhi. The F1 Plus is the latest selfie camera phone from the Chinese smartphone maker which comes with a 16MP front camera which the company calls Hi-Light camera. It comes with a panorama feature as well as an updated Beautify 4.0 camera software along with a front-facing screen flash to fill in light.
The smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD display and the company claims that it offers the thinnest bezels in its category with just 1.66mm. The handset has an all-metal unibody design which definitely looks refined and gives a premium finish and is surprisingly light.
On the inside there is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor powering the device with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal memory which is expandable. Running on Android 5.1 the phone will come with Oppo's new ColorOS 3.0 UI which comes with a new flat look and some integrated features. The handset will also support Oppo's patented VOOC fast charging feature and is said to offer 2 hours of talktime on just 5 minutes of charge. The 2,850mAH might not sound a lot but Oppo is confident that the handset will last all day thanks to battery efficiency and fast charging capabilities of the phone. The back has a 13MP camera with PDAF (Phase detection auto-focus) and a bunch of modes including Normal, HDR, Ultra HD, Filter mode, GIF mode, Double Exposure and Professional Mode.
The smartphone supports 4G LTE as well as VOLTE calling with dual-SIM card slots. Unline the F1, the F1 Plus will house a fingerprint scanner below the display which is claimed to unlock the device in 0.2 seconds.
The F1 Plus will be available in two colours, gold and rose gold and will be available in mid April for a price of Rs. 26,990. The price sounds steep and will definitely be a huge factor whether this smartphone will sell or not. Oppo has always had an issue with its pricing but their last smartphone, the F1 was priced fairly good. The company will have to re-evaluate it pricing if it really wants to sell its smartphones in India.
