The OnePlus 13 is preparing for a global unveiling on 17 October, 2024, coinciding with Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit. This Android smartphone is expected to be one of the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which aims to offer great performance.
OnePlus will introduce the gadget in China first, followed by a global release. Recent teasers point to considerable upgrades, including a possible transition to a flat display, leaving the curved shape of its predecessor. The OnePlus 13 is expected to feature a BOE X2 flexible OLED display with 2K quality. It will provide brightness levels with a peak HDR brightness of 6,000 nits, 1,600 nits in high-brightness mode and up to 1,000 nits in normal conditions.
Performance And Software
The OnePlus 13 will come with at least 12 GB of RAM (up to 16 GB in high-end variants) and internal storage options of 256/512 GB. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip will improve CPU, GPU and NPU performance, allowing for smooth multitasking, gaming and AI functions. OnePlus is also using its own Tidal Engine and Aurora Engine to boost system performance even further.
The gadget will be released with ColorOS 15 in China and OxygenOS 15 abroad, with a streamlined user experience. Notably, OxygenOS 15 will include additional lock screen customisation options and a better file-sharing platform similar to Apple's AirDrop.
Battery And Charging
The device is expected to include a 6,000 mAh battery, expanding on the battery life of its predecessor. While fast charging capabilities are expected to remain at 100W wired and 50W wireless, users may have to purchase the charger separately, as OnePlus may continue to exclude chargers from the retail box, which will only include the signature red USB-C cable and a SIM ejector tool. The smartphone also may transition from an optical in-display fingerprint sensor to an ultrasonic sensor for faster and more accurate detection.
Pricing And Availability
The OnePlus 13 is slated to be released in China later this month, with an international release planned for late November 2024 or early January 2025. The base model is expected to cost around Rs 65,000, with larger storage options likely costing more.
