Oh Give me a Home
Lord, give me a home
where all beings are safe
in their thoughts, words, and actions.
Give me a home
where all life is sustained
by every breath we take.
Lord, give me friends
who see my beauty within
and who are positive in all ways.
Give me a planetary home
where sincere prayers are said daily
and answered by Grace.
Lord, give me a life
where all humans wisely practise a spiritual life
to be infinitely more valuable to their Clients.
Give me a home
where I am free as a bird
to reach the highest heights of love.
Lord, give me more love
with which I can transform
and be more worthy of respect.
Give me a home
where I can weep openly
to celebrate each joyous moment.

Ever had one of those days? Where everything is humming along, you feel great and then BOOM out of nowhere comes a call, email or text message that turns your life upside down? The message breaks your heart into a million pieces – and it feels like you’ll never put it together again. And so you reach out in prayer.
The criticism in the message feels unwarranted because you’ve been bustin’ your butt for the “good of all”. Gosh, maybe you even sacrificed your private time and private money to ensure a happy ending for others. Ever been there? I’m going to guess that most of you are nodding your heads.
If you have a Mentor or Coach, they might give you typical leadership advice such as:
But here is a different way to look at it.
When someone shows their fangs towards you, it could also be that you are being reminded to push a different type of leadership button – your “Detachment Button”! Allow me to explain. We get so attached to life, don’t we? We get attached to our home, our family, our children, our job, our car, our body, our values, our thoughts, our friends and our everything! We make these things our “God”. Thus, we lead superficial lives forgetting that our real reason for being on Planet Earth is to remember who we really are inside. We are here to reconnect with the part of us that sees no separation from others and the world around us.
Recently a “friend” told me that I made him feel guilty. Well, the truth is that no one can make you feel guilty unless you believe that you are guilty! Tricky eh? He also told me that I push people too hard. Yes, I am known to push people but I think in a good way. I have a knack for seeing potential in people that they rarely see in themselves and thus I push them to bring out the brilliance that is sitting there dormant, like an unpolished diamond.
I can’t remember the year I wrote the poem, “Oh Give me a Home”, probably ten years ago or more. Yet, the message is still as poignant as it was then. The message is “Push your Leadership Button, work on your spirituality to detach from the mundane world. Everything is an illusion anyway.”
What’s really cool is that once we detach from the mundane, Earth is a very pleasant “Home” in which to live no matter what call, email or text happens to show up in our lives.
Therefore, I thank my friend for pushing my personal Leadership Button by pointing out to me that anything that belongs to the human realm is just an illusion. I did apologize to him if he felt I had treated him poorly. But if my actions were also there to help remind him about his own illusion, then I am happy to have helped him realize that. I hope he can now feel the love I am projecting towards him as I work on transforming myself to feel everything is an illusion. I have work to do, folks!
Bottom line is that it is a waste of time to get upset at an illusion. It’s like trying to grab air. I want to feel as free as a bird! No attachments. Just like the lady in the red sunglasses!
I think I’ll push my “Detachment” Leadership Button. Care to join me?
