US chipmaker Nvidia introduced a modified version of an advanced gaming chip that complies with US export controls targeting China, as per a media report on Friday.
Nvidia said the modified chip will offer a quantum leap in performance. It will be efficient in providing artificial intelligence-driven graphics and will be available to Chinese customers from January.
Additionally, it emphasised that the GeForce RTX 4090 D has been launched in complete compliance with the US government's export measures and during the development of this product, we were extensively engaged with the Centre.
The GeForce RTX 4090 D is the first Nvidia chip designed and launched since the Biden Administration modified the export rules for China in October.
Previously, the US government blocked two of Nvidia’s AI chips created for the Chinese market, which complied with old export rules, A800 and H800.
Based on the new rules, the US company was reportedly said to introduce three chips for its market in China. However, the reported two chips are yet not available on Nvidia's China website.
