Ease of doing business due to ammendment in agriculture produce marketing commeette act (APMC) as well essential commodities act (ECA), has been PM Narendra Modi's first statement during his address to ICCs Annual Plenary session. PM said that farmers will emerge as a brilliant marketing force due to these amendments.
PM has stressed that Sikkim has emerged as successful model of organic farming produce and said entire North East can follow the footsteps. He has also asked ICC member to help mould Northeast India as regional organic hub.
PM has also thrown light on governments effort to raise MSPs periodically to empower the farmers' remuneration. Focusing on the need of participation from industries to make the idea of clusters for regional agricultural produce, PM gave example of Jute industry of Bengal.
He has also repeated the commitment by government to fight Covid-19, locust and challenge due to recent cyclones. Recently the Indian meteorological department (lMD) has come up with projections for a normal to good southwest monsoon in India, that may lead to good Kharif harvest.
Expert believe that PM has specific reason to address Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) which is a powerful industry lobby from eastern India. As after continuous lack of coordination between west bengal government with the union government, many of the scheme by the later haven't allegedly become applicable in the state or delayed, for example PM KISAN Samman Nidhi.
