Once upon a time, there used to be a clear demarcation between engineers and managers. The classic example of this could be seen in early and mid 20th century automobile factories - the glittering symbols of the second industrial revolution - where engineers looked after the assembly of cars, while managers were busy chasing profits. This distinction has been constantly blurring for a while and it has become quite acceptable and common for young aspirants to first acquire a degree in engineering before pursuing an MBA. For some decades, this dual degree has been the most sought after: both when you look at students and recruiters.
It is no surprise then that many premier institutions that started originally as engineering colleges started offering management courses over time. Virtually all the better known and pedigreed IITs now have flagship MBA programmes that attract the best talent from a young and aspirational India. NITIE is one of its kind and a neighbour of IIT Bombay, which also finds a place in the top 20. The campus is truly green and beautiful spread over more than 90 acres. NITIE was lucky enough to be set up in the Nehruvian era in the 1960s when land could be allotted generously in a city like the then Bombay.
The philosophy of the institution is summed up quite neatly by the director Karuna Jain: "The diverse engineering backgrounds, from which the students come from, enable them in possessing a cross-functional outlook and in having the aptitude, attitude and determination to succeed at the highest level. I'm indeed happy to announce the commencement of the two new courses namely Post Graduate Diploma in Manufacturing Management, and Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management. These are the two unique courses, whose curriculum has been structured in order to cater to the specific needs pertaining to manufacturing and project management.
Students pursuing these courses will obtain proficiency in latest tools and techniques used for enhancing and improving Industrial productivity." NITIE offers an array of programmes and courses that can be summarised as:
Fellowship: It aims at developing outstanding scholars, who explore the inexact science of management with a beyond the obvious perspective.
MDP: It assists some of the best practising managers in radically changing their perspective about business. It is one of the several ways through which the industry benefits from faculty's rich experience.

With an enviable placement record, NITIE is all set to cross new frontiers of excellence.
