Nested at the outskirts of the city, Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) had a humble beginning in the year 1987 in Assam. From the rented buildings, with the progress of time, the founder and principal N.K. Dutta quite successfully managed to procure almost 26 acres of lush green land.
The School, 9th in the all India co-ed boarding schools category 2016 (EducationWorld C-fore) at the national level is one of the most sought after boarding schools in the North-East today. The clean, green and serene campus is now conferred with Confederation of Indian Chambers and Industries (CII) and Indian Green Building Council’s (IGBC) first re-certified green school in the country.
School Curriculum:
MBRS follows CBSE curriculum. Here academic facilities are all child-centric. The students are under 24x7 supervision whether in the school or hostels. During the morning and evening preparation time, students complete their homework or practise according to their need.
Education/Academics:
It has classes from I to XII for both boys and girls. Classes VII to X have two sections each: XI and XII have three sections in Science stream and one section each in Arts and Commerce stream. The student teacher ratio is 10:1.
Infrastructure:
The school has spacious and well-lit classrooms, well-designed labs for both Science, Commerce and Humanities. The IT labs are planned with Internet facilities. The English lab and DIVC (Developing Intelligence through Vocabulary Class) is a revolutionary innovative measure undertaken by MBRS with the objective of making eloquent English speakers.
Efficient Use Of Innovative Technology: Next generation needs creative and thought provoking classrooms because they are already exposed to information gathering sites through the Internet, film and print media. The challenge is met by the introduction of smart boards with the help of teachers as facilitators show the topic related modules.
Teacher Assessment and Evaluation: The Harvard professor Kim Marshall’s ‘How to Make Teacher Evaluations Accurate, Fair and Consistent’ has been meticulously incorporated into the system.
Health, Hygiene and Sanitation: Academic excellence is continuum only in a healthy environment. Thus, regular health check-up and cleanliness drive keep students always free from any contagious disease or epidemics.
Voluminous Learning Resource Centre: The school also has a large learning resource centre with over 19,000 books, encyclopaedias, periodicals and journals, which have been fully computerised. Robotics is also a field where students get a chance to learn the concept of Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering concept particularly.
The school believes in research and exploration of new talents and proper channelisation, for “All are born genius; it’s only that little spark which waits to be ignited by the hands of those whom God has chosen to lead the world.”
