Microsoft Corporation India has purchased roughly 16.4 acres of land in Pune from Viva Highways Limited for Rs 453 crore. This deal was sealed in September 2024.
According to property expert Square Yards, the transaction included the purchase of 66,450 square metres of land in Pune's Hinjewadi neighbourhood. The entire price for the land was Rs 453 crore, which included a stamp tax of Rs 27.18 crore and a registration charge of Rs 30,000. This acquisition is part of Microsoft's overall strategy to increase its footprint and operating capability in India.
Earlier this week, Square Yards reported on another Microsoft transaction in which the corporation purchased 16.4 acres in Pune from Indo Global Infotech City LLP for Rs 520 crore. This previous agreement, signed in August 2024, hints at Microsoft's expansion strategy.
Along with these recent acquisitions, Microsoft has been actively extending its presence in India's data centre sector. In 2022, the company spent Rs 328 crore on a 25-acre site in Pimpri-Chinchwad, while earlier this year, it paid Rs 267 crore for 48 acres in Hyderabad.
It is to be noted that Microsoft already comprises facilities in Pune, Mumbai and Chennai, and these recent purchases signal towards the tech-giant’s expansion ambitions in the country.
