Italian luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally removed the covers from its much awaited SUV. Lamborghini Urus witnessed its world premiere on 4 December in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
Lamborghini has termed Urus as world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle, and it is also the first five-seater super sports car.
Lamborghini Urus integrates a 3,996cc 8-cylinder, V8 bi-turbo engine with a maximum power output of 478kW @ 6,000rpm and peak torque of 850Nm @ 2,250-4,500rpm. It is mated with an 8-gear automatic transmission.
With maximum speed of 305 km/hr and Urus can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 3.6 seconds.
The SUV measures 5,112mm X 2,016mm X 1,638mm, with 3,003mm of wheelbase.
It also provides two ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) packages - “Urban Road” and “Highway”.
Urus’ driving dynamics package includes - 4-wheel-steering, 4-wheel-drive system with active rear torque vectoring, adaptive air suspension with active dampers, a roll stabilization system with continuous and immediate response, carbon ceramic brakes and mixed tires.
The ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligent MAnagement) Selector is the secret of Lamborghini driving dynamics. The vehicle adapts according to the driving mode selected.
There are three on-road modes: Strada, Sport, and Corsa, and three off-road modes: Neve, Terra, Sabbia, and Ego.
Lamborghini Urus design took inspiration from the heritage of the LM002 in regard to the power dome showing the position of the engine and the significant diagonal lines, while the frameless doors recall the iconic Gandini line.
In the Lamborghini Urus interior, the aeronautic design and the driver-oriented instrument concept with three TFT screens (one for the instruments, one for infotainment and one for comfort functions and virtual keyboard with handwriting recognition) put the driver’s needs at the forefront.
The dashboard architecture follows the “Y” theme inspired by iconic Lamborghini models. The interior can be customized through the selection of different kinds of colors and materials, such as: natural leather, Alcantara, wood finish, aluminum or carbon – with the option of contrast stitching or Q-citura.
Lamborghini Infotainment System III (LIS III) includes two intuitive touchscreens with haptic feedback and a total of three high-definition displays. In the cockpit, their representations and icons change according to each driving mode selection.
A highlight is the advanced 3D surround Bang & Olufsen sound system with its 21 loudspeakers and a power output of 1700 Watts.
