Mahindra École Centrale (MEC) college of engineering has organised an Industry Connect session “Innovation is not about Re-Inventing the wheel” in Mumbai to target HR specialists.
The event witnessed participation from around 40 industry leaders from HR domain who deliberated on the role of innovation within the organisation.
The Industry Connect platform of MEC sought to bring together human resources professionals from leading enterprises, business leaders and strategic thinkers to deliberate on the changing role of human capital in reshaping businesses in the near future.
Professor Hariharan Krishnan, Head of Creative Sciences at MEC, in his session deliberated on how innovation is really a constant search for improvement by individuals and is a journey rather than a destination. He explained how innovation is reflected in learning/teaching/deploying knowledge and the outcomes that could ensue for those who promote and practice Innovation at work and in life.
Prof. Murthy kick-started the discussions by sharing that Innovation is all about three types – Product, Processes and Business Model Education. Mr. Dharm Rakshit spoke about how one should “Innovate by leading rather than following and listening”.
Sunit Mehra also said that "Leadership has to walk the talk to raise innovation in this nation/organization” and if an organization makes Innovation a part of its value systems, then the ideas will automatically flow.
“Develop Intrapreneurship culture in organizations to Innovate”, said, Debobrata Mohapatra as the way to growth. Prof. TSK Murthy said that “Organisations should stop Looking at Key Words but look at Key Capabilities while recruiting”
