About 75 per cent of industry leaders are convinced that AI integrated with sustainable practices can actualise higher decision-making and governance, as per a new industry report. The report suggested that India requires ethical, transparent and accountable Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems.
The report noted the need of having a specific AI Governance and Ethics Board as 73 per cent of leaders in industry support the formation of such boards to oversee the practices regarding AI in organisations. Additionally, 78 per cent expressed their concerns on the relevance of skills as well as the need for training for introducing the new solutions.
The Primus Partners report found ‘AI for India’ will account for up to 10 per cent of the GDP by 2025, if and only if governed correctly. But it also revealed some of the issues like data quality and availability, which remains the main concern for 76 per cent of leaders in the industry towards the use of AI.
Transparency and Explainability of AI Important
Another key finding of the report revealed that 53 per cent of respondents want AI systems to be designed with principles of explainability and transparency to ensure accountability.
The research also pointed to the fact that there is a requirement to support the formation of middleware regulatory model since 51 per cent of the respondents were in support of a model that incorporates both the traditional and contingent regulation model.
Additionally, an overwhelming 67.6 per cent said there is a need for more partnerships between the public and private sectors especially in sectors like health and education to promote appropriate AI developments.
