Q. What is your definition of luxury?
A. For me, to be able to get what I desire in terms of choices is the biggest luxury as back in the day when I had limited money, my choices were also limited. Affordability was something I would focus on, at that point of time. The power of choice is luxury to me.
Q. How has the idea of luxury evolved over time?
A. Back in the day when I was growing up, I think it was all about exclusivity and high prices. However, now I see a huge shift in that sector because now it is more about craftsmanship, sustainability, ethical production, societal values of how brands are communicating with the consumersand how responsible they are. Hence, I feel that, they are adapting every day to the demands of the consumers, and are aware of evolving consumer tastes, and at the same time retaining their identity. Meaningful experiences and responsibility are important.
Q. What inspired you into cinema?
A. As we are talking about luxury, I think acting happened because it is about being a leading man in the Indian film industry, which is a luxury in itself. That really fascinated me and the love for cinema started when I was growing up. My father used to take me for a movie at least twice or thrice a month. He loved cinema and I think it influenced me also. I used to start replicating dancing and acting in real life scenarios that time. I never took it seriously that time as it was a luxury, and we didn’t have the money so instead I completed my graduation and did Chartered Accountancy. After that I started auditioning and in five years I guess I got lucky.
Q. What is the concept behind the Skechers Walkathon?
A. Skechers is the first brand I signed on and I loved it as they have a very wide collection of footwear, and apparel as well. When I actually used their products myself I fell in love with the brand. That is why the bond I have with them is still carrying on. They have come up with the ‘Walkathon’ whichis a very good initiative where people take time out from their busy lives and just walk. It is not like a marathon for which one needs to train, it is just for people who love to walk. It is a fun event and I am looking forward to it on November 20, 2023.
Q. Who is your favourite actor?
A. Matthew McConaughey is one of my favourite actors and I love Greenlights, a book written by him, published in 2020. In this book, he has penned down his thoughts and stories as they were in his real life, so it is as if he used content from his diary. I resonate with that as even I write as a hobby.
