Swedish sports car manufacturer Koenigsegg has announced that its Koenigsegg Agera RS has set a new record by becoming world’s fastest production car.
Koenigsegg Agera RS has accelerated from 0 to 400 km/h and back to 0 in 36.44 seconds, on Sunday (1 October), at Vandel Airfield in Denmark.
The Agera RS was driven by Koenigsegg factory driver, Niklas Lilja.
Agera RS measures 4,293mm X 2,050mm X 1,120mm, and comes equipped with Koenigsegg twin turbo aluminum 5.0L V8, 4 valves per cylinder engine.
With Koenigsegg Agera RS setting this new world record, let’s take a look at some of the records set by Indian motorsports sector.
1. Touring car driver Aditya Patel broke former Formula 1 Spanish driver Jaime Alguersuari’s top speed record. During the 2011 Indian Grand Prix, Alguersuari recorded top speed of 324.2 kph. In august 2016, Patel clocked fastest speed of 33.2 kph on an Audi R8 V10 Plus.
2. In March 2017, Tata Motors’ 1000 bhp Prima Race Truck set a new record of completing a lap in 135 seconds on the international racing circuit at T1 Prima Truck Racing.
3. Former Miss India and actress Gul Panag is the first Indian woman to drive Formula E racing car in Barcelona, Spain in April 2017. She drove Mahindra Racing’s M4 Electro sports car.
4. During August 2017, TVS Racing set a new stunt record with its bikes - Apache RTR 180 and Apache RTR 200 4V. The record was set for the longest non-stop stunt show in India. The stunts were performed by TVS Racing team for five straight hours.
5. A teenager from Mumbai, 18 year old Jehan Daruvala, has become the first Indian to win a Grand Prix in motorsport. In February 2017, he won New Zealand GP at the Chris Amon Circuit.
