A US-based not-for-profit organisation and e-learning website Khan Academy and Central Square Foundation, have launched hindi version of the website for e-leraners.
Khan Academy's mission is to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere, and Central Square Foundation is a grantmaking organisation and policy think tank focused on improving quality of school education in India.
Founded by MIT graduate, Salman (Sal) Khan, the company's mission is to provide world-class education for free, for everyone, wherever you are - Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, a village in Haryana, or anywhere else around the globe.
Sal Khan said, “We are hugely motivated by the Indian government’s focus on facilitating quality education for all and the use of technology as an enabler to do so. The partnership with Central Square Foundation in India is a key step towards enabling Khan Academy’s vision of democratising world class education, for anyone, anywhere. Applying our mission to India, we’re hoping that making localised content available will benefit learners of all ages.”
Central Square Foundation is also supporting Khan Academy to pilot the Hindi platform in government and private schools across India.
The Hindi platform is part of a shared vision of the two organisations to enable high quality, localised and personalised learning resources to students across India, that can help students master skills at their own pace. The partnership is a result of their firm belief in the potential of free and open educational resources in local Indian languages to significantly improve student learning levels. The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2014 has revealed that only 44.1% of Class 8 students in rural India can do division. Providing students personalised learning solutions can help bridge the learning gap.
The Hindi platform will contain practice exercises, instructional videos, dashboard analytics and teacher tools to empower learners in and outside of the classroom to study. The learning experience on Khan Academy adapts to each individual, helps them to see their progress and goals, creates personalised recommendations about what to learn next and motivates them to master the skills they seek.
