iVoomi has been very aggressive in terms of the number of devices launched in the entry-level smartphone market. This time the company has launched their most expensive device in India – iVoomi Me 3s.
Chinese OEM iVoomi on recently launched its new smartphone under the budget segment at a price of Rs 6,499. The smartphone is exclusively available on Flipkart.
The dual SIM (nano+nano) handset is backed by a 3000mAh battery with power saver mode and fast charging 2.0. Connectivity options are – Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, 4G VoLTE, USB, 3.5mm audio-jack, and GPS. iVoomi Me 3s comes in midnight black, champagne gold, and teal blue body shades.
Display and Design
iVoomi Me 3s features a 5.2-inch HD (1280x720) shatterproof display, which the company claims is ‘unbreakable’, with 2.5D curved glass. The display didn’t crack on the shortfalls from the table or from the bed. The handset comes with a screen guard in a box. Honestly speaking I have seen displays cracking if they are protected with screen guard but even without the screen guard, the display remained intact. In other words, iVoomi have done a good job by making a shatterproof display in a device of this price range.
Talking about the display’s performance, it is a 5.2-inch HD (1280x720) multi touch display with 2.5D curved glass. The auto brightness on the display works fine and it is easily visible in the direct sunlight. The colours are sharp and you can also optimise the display accordingly.
The smartphone has rounded edges which feel good to hold in hands and unlike the other previous iVoomi device; it doesn’t slips from the hands. The plastic cover gives it a unibody look as it just do not covers the battery, but also the edges including the USB port and audio-jack.
The primary camera is placed on the top-left corner of the handset, just like other iVoomi handsets, and is encircled by a ring which adds a premium look to the phone as well as act as a protection to the camera. On the right edge is the power button with volume rockers.
The 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB port are placed on the top. Speakers are placed on the backside of the device. There are two capacitive buttons on either side of the home button (fingerprint sensor) which works as back and drop down menu button.
Camera
It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, flash, and autofocus. On the front is also an 8-megapixels selfie-shooter with beauty mode, f/2.0 aperture, and flash. The rear camera captures good images with its 13-megapixel camera. It clicks sharp images during the night with some amount of noise; the camera in this mobile phone is one of the best you will get in a phone at this price.
The camera app on this device looks pretty outdated; it is not handy and feels like you are using a device from 2013. Talking about front camera, it is just fine; its beauty mode beautifies your face a little too much which is something you won’t like. In other words, the front camera is just there on the phone, if you are thinking you will click good selfies with this one, then you will be disappointed.
Software and Performance
Me 3s runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and powered by 1.3 GHz MediaTek 6737 Quad-core processor coupled with 3GB RAM which is pretty common among devices in this price range. It comes with 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB through a MicroSD card.
iVoomi Me 3s gave us 28452 in AnTuTu, and 533 and 1530, respectively, in Geekbench’s single core and multi-core tests.
There is no lagging while switching between the apps and the multitasking is done pretty smoothly. The overall performance is decent which you will find in almost every device at this price category.
Battery
The dual SIM (nano+nano) handset is backed by a 3000mAh non-removable battery with power saver mode and fast charging 2.0. The battery in this device is powerful and is capable of lasting for a day in a single charge. The phone gets charged from zero to hundred per cent in less than two hours.
Verdict
iVoomi has a very long way to go to become a permanent player in the Indian smartphone market. In the entry level smartphone segment, iVoomi has launched various products starting from Rs 3,500 and this one at Rs 6,499. With Me 3s, iVoomi seems to be entering slowly deeper into the market by expanding its portfolio. Me 3s will face competition from Moto C, Xiaomi Redmi 4A and Intex Aqua 5.5 VR among others.
Overall, the main USP of the phone is its shatterproof display, other than that it has powerful
battery, and decent camera. But these features don’t seem enough for the consumers to buy iVoomi’s smartphone instead of a Motorola, Xiaomi or Micromax as the brand equity of iVoomi is very low in the Indian market. However if iVoomi somehow manages to find the right target audience in the Indian market, the Me 3s can be a good selling device.
If your phone falls a lot from your hands or your pocket, you should buy the iVoomi Me 3s.
